hi guys all you experienced m3 owners should know the most cost effective way to get insured on my ride-to-be e46 m3 convert? any recommendations for an insurance company..? it has a tracker(monitor) i'm 29 i've been driving company cars for the last 4 years but had a bang last year so no, no claims bonus acquired. My postcode isn't exactly in the suburbs but i have a gated driveway...

I went onto the price comparison sites, Confused, Money Supermarket, Compare The Market etc, took the best quote I could get from them, which if I remember was about £620, and phoned A-Plan Insurance, who advertise on this site. A-Plan got it down to £570 and I was pleased at that.

Prior to that, contacting individual insurance companies, the best quote I got was 700 odd pounds, with some so called performance car specialists quoting up to £1,800.

Car is an E39 M5, which is probably a slightly cheaper car to insure than an E46 M3 convertable, but I doubt there's much in it.

I am 39, full no claims, no convictions or accidents, 10k miles pa.

I have a 2006 cab. With full no claims and insured to the value of £35K I got it for £525 from Norwich Union through my broker. A Plan also offered the same deal.

try privilege and direct line. I used moneysupermarket, confused.com, elephant, compare the market, go compare, tesco comparison...basically everything
those gave me far better and very near prices -I am 35 with 5yrs NCB unprotected, M3 conv, secure parking, tracker, central london = £835 not protected NCB with Privilege

I believe they only insure cars with trackers though but it is worth it

Elephant.co.uk are cheapest by a hundred miles I have found. I did a new quote for interest the other day and it seems my insurance is due to drop by about £400 this year!

I couldn't give a stuff about frills. I'd rather not have them and pay a smaller premium. Courtesy car - not required - barely use my car as it is. Legal cover - not required - plenty of no win no fee places out there if I need it. Think elephant do cover hifi to £500 and also windscreen. What else do I need?
