HI, NEED SOME INFO PLEASE.
MY Z4MC HAS RECENTLY STARTED TO TICK TICK TICK FROM THE ENGINE . OCCURS ONLY WHEN WARM. NOT REDICULOUSLY LOUD BUT HAS STARTED TO BOTHER ME. I LIKE DRIVING WITH THE WINDOW A BIT OPEN BUT FIND THAT I'M JUST TUNING IN TO THIS SOUND ALL THE TIME. ( PLEASE NO-ONE REPLY " CLOSE THE WINDOW" )
ANY THOUGHTS ?

Third key up on the left of the keyboard ;-) HTH biggrin

And on to the real issue - if it's a Z4MC, I'd imagine it's still in warranty....take it to the dealer to take a look??

They all do that sir yes

The S52 and S54 engines always sound 'ticky' when pootling along. Providing it's had all the regular services then I doubt you have much to worry about.

my z4m does it, i took mine to bmw and aparently they all do that, so i put them to the test and i started every e46 m3 and z4ms they had and to be fair they all did it. the more anoying prob is mine likes to spray petril over my feet when its tank is brimmed, bmw did change somethink but sadly its started to do it again.

They all differ, but its nothing to worry about really, though I know how annoying at can be. I suspect its vanos/tappet related as when my first E46 needed its Vanos replacing it sound really quiet after the work was done. My fathers M3 always sounded quiet and my second M3 was much quieter too. They all differ as I say, but they all tick tick tick to a lesser or greater extent.

It's the piezo injectors which emitt the noise when hot/warm. It's on their list to sort out, although I doubt they will.
