E46 SMG oil change.

Hi all.

Can anyone help? A friend of mine is doing a service on an M3 at the moment. Part of this is to change the gearbox oil.

He just wants to be sure that everything is done properly so we need to know if there is any special functions that need to be done (ie, selecting a certain mode ect) before he drops the oil and refills it.

Have any of you guys had any experiance with this?

The SMG gearbox is a standard manual gearbox so its a simple case of drain it out and refil.

The SMG hydraulic system oil doesnt need to be changed.If it is it then needs a GT1 to carry out a bleed routine....but you shouldnt need to do this.

I hope he's keeping his service book upto date otherwise the value of his car will plummet irrespective of whether he's done the service himself...
