Excellent, The M6 Should Stop Now...
Discussion
In fairness I should preface this by acknowledging that unlike the standard fare on the E39 M5, the M6's regular weeners, miserable 2 pot clampers that they are, have survived two (or is it three?) VMaxes and 10,000 miles of exceedingly sympathetic stoppage () with minimal distress.
However, they are still a slightly chinky piece of rusty armour so what better than good old BREMBO to suddenly introduce their mighty 6 pot, 'monoblock' calipers and grooved, 380mm discs?
Andy at Fearnsport used words like "braided" and phrases such as "floating bells" which are apparently 'a good thing' but I really don't care: so long as they are big, red and allow me the stoppage of an Odinic suckerpunch come chucking oot time, I'll be delighted.
They have apparently developed a 4 pot system for the rears which may be worth investigating (although I left my M5 rears standard, despite protestations from Lord Dazren of The West.)
I presume this is the same for E60 saloon fanciers so if you sometimes look at your exposed calipers with some incredulity, why not have a do?
Should be interesting.

I said you needed to change the pads on the rear of the E39 M5, not that you should get the rear axle BBK.Any idea on delivery and install date? in time for VMAX?

Der,
Collecting my M6 tomorrow. Is there a cheaper and simpler way to de-restrict than the DMS upgrade?
And please stop going on about other upgrades, otherwise you will be tempting me to spend even more money!
:-)
Jon.
Has he mentioned the exhaust upgrade yet? Tubi Style or Eisenmann! You know it makes sense Collecting my M6 tomorrow. Is there a cheaper and simpler way to de-restrict than the DMS upgrade?

Jon - fantastic move - every credit, you are about to enter the twiglet zone of fugleschnell.
I would say get a Tubi back box - whilst the basic system is great the boys from Scuderia can deliver the 'tame son of Gallardo' sonorance for reasonable coinage. Ask for 'Manu.'
Colurs, links, when, etc? I may know an alternative source for the delimit - I'll check and get back at ye.
In the meantime, might you be available for the next Vmax?

VMAX details and dates are never posted on forum. You need to contact the organiser "craigw" via email as set out in his recent post on the VMAX forum:

Hi Jon, just been looking at that very car on the BMW web site not 5 minutes ago, so you bought it then?? Don't seem to be many about at all for the last few months on the BMW site, especially low mileage late plate ones. Have been thinking about one to replace my E60 M5.
Would be interested to know if you find an alternative to DMS to remove the speed limiter.
cheers, John

Yes, picked it up yesterday and so far very pleased. I have been looking around for a while and was pleased to find this one as I really like the colour combo and particularly wanted the Full leather option rather than the extended leather.
It does seem that dealers are asking a big jump in price when you move to the 07 plates (mostly about 60K+).
I'll let you know what I do with regard to the delimit.
