2003 M3 Battery Problem
Discussion
Folks,
Hoping some one might be able to shed some light on a problem I'm having with a 38k mile '03 M3(FBMWSH).
Red battery light came on yesterday; drove car for ~30mins, towards the end of the journey the radio switched itself off & all dashboard warning lights came on (same as ignition). Got back to office, turned the engine off & tried to restart it; nothing there.
Manual says that the red battery warning light means theres a problem with either the 'V-belt' or the alternators charging circuit. Had a quick look under the bonnet, belt appears fine & the alternator connections are firm. Multimeter across the battery terminals with the engine running confirms that there is no charge getting to the battery (11 Volts).
Has anyone experienced a similar problem/be able to point me in the right direction? Is there a regulator/electronics that are known to fail?
