Looking into replacing my E46 2003 330 Clubsport with one of the new M3's but am a little unsure of whats important in terms of spec.. I had assumed the 19" Wheels and USB connection options were essentials. Anything else that is considered a must have? What about the optional adjustable dampers?

The adjustable dampers are a "must have". Most of the cars seem to have 19" wheels and bluetooth too. I would recommend some different trim, I went for aluminium shadow - the standard looks naff. Aside from those, it's a well-specced car as-is, so no need to go overboard.

Very much agree re. dampers - they make a really noticeable difference. Other than that why not spec the car how YOU want it - rather than for the next owner as most people seem to do. Enjoy.

Don't worry I fully intend too... But I also don't want to be the muppet who forgot a simple £300 option that everyone then wants and is impossible to retro fit..

Like folding mirrors on the E46 (I want it and am told its impossible to retro fit, and was indeed a £300 option) frown

I didn't bother with 19s and bluetooth, I went on the basis that 18s had historically given a better ride/handling.

The one option I kicked myself about not doing was the USB/MP3 interface. £200, and it includes an 80gb hard drive.
