I'm likely to buy the 'race' type cat back Eisenmann muffler for my E92 M3, I've contacted the german builder and they claim is going to be 3 weeks from the order for delivery, also that this muffler is designed for sound but specifically ALSO for permormance... i'm new of M3 territory but seem these guys are top notch on exhausts. Does any of you have direct experience with their parts? comments?

Hi,

I have Eissenmann back boxes on my MC and am really pleased with them. I went for the 76mm tips and race sound. They are quite load but I love the sound. Top quality too.

you won#t get much if any of an improvement in performance from back boxes alone, only more noise, if that's what you want then they'll do the trick I suspect

Well, i was thinking about a Gruppe M intake as well, they told me the new specific E92 M3 part will be ready end of this month...both new ends for sure will help the engine to breath better and for sure will give the engine the rumble it deserves to have.

There was a silver M5 around Reading last summer with Eisenmann race boxes on the back and jeez was it loud; even at low speed in traffic... Not sure how loud the E92 will be; but if it's as loud as the M5 then you may want to listen to one first as even at low speed it was intrusive.

Also, in the UK, BMW warranty is invalidated on the engine and drivetrain if you fit an aftermarket exhaust - not sure about Italy though?

For sure any changement is illegal in Italy and Spain (where i'm living now)...the warranty sistem though is a bit more 'elastic', usually the dealers of such cars know that first (...or second) thing their enthusiast customers are going to modify is the catback so they're always available to close an eye..

Was in the same situtation, and had to choose between the Race and the Sport version. The Sport has TüV approval and is essential if you in Italy, like in Belgium, has an annual technical control (MOT for the UK guys) where the Race version would not pass.

The Sport (on the E39 M5) is a definite improvement as regards looks (83 mm tips v the original 67 mm ones) and sound + quality is very good.

have a look on youtube for Eisenmann on a new m5. to say its loud would be an understatement. the sound is out of this world but, it not what what you would call discret. check it out before you buy it.

Not interested in track days? So many circuits have low noise limits.
