First, they ALL trot out this line about the steering wheel being too thick - both current car and E46. I find it superb and wish more wheels were like it. Then, in last weeks Autocar, Harris says the ignition 'key' bugs him because he clouts it with his knee. Eh?????? I defy anyone with an E92 M3 to go outside now, get in the car and try to hit the key with your knee. IT'S PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE - the things half way up the dash.

Are all journos deformed with short chubby fingers and spider like legs? Or is there something wrong with me?

They have to say something bad because they like all the freebies Audi give them ?

BMWs are reknown for ergonomics so they're porbably talking rubbish.

Just wish I could afford an M3 !

Indeed: I can't believe the contradictory sh1t a well known publication has just shovelled forth as regards a vehicle close to my heart - but don't forget the pet theory amongst serial M bods that currently in 'Hackworld' there is something of a fashionable anti-M vibe going down...

Had the pleasure of a spirited drive in IMOM's white E92 the other day, agree with Harris's comments regarding the seating position, way too high with all the electric gubbins lurking beneath. Another criticism was the rather numb helm, in the wet and greasy conditions it made feeling the front end grip a might tricky.

But what a car, fantastic grip despite the slimy conditions and with the DTC disabled (and IMOM bellowing abuse in my left ear) drifts a treat. Drivetrain even at it's modest mileage more sonorous that that of my old V8 RS4 and felt more accelerative to boot.

However after a little run back to back on a private test track between his M3 and my DMS'd 335D touring, he was most frustrated that he could make no impression on my position in the lead.

It proved one thing however, that my admiration for the DMS'd 335d shows no sign of abaiting.

I've got this problem with my E90 330. It's not the ignition key itself that digs into my knee, rather the leather/metal BMW keyfob and my doorkey. The ignition key on its own is fine though. Maybe he was talking about the keyfob?

Hit my knee on the fob for the key too (sorry)!

Steering wheel is thick but fine.

Seats were too narrow for me in the back.

oh no, now the next thread is going to be how the Dms'd 335d also beats an M3 winksmile
