Bought the B5 in the end, but the Touring. Only 4 RHD in the country and one happened to come up for sale. I know there will be the odd occasion where I'll miss the hardcore element of an M5 Touring, but think for an everyday family the B5 makes more sense, and is probably quicker in the real world.

Real world means not having to worry about what gear you are in or what settings you have programmed for gearbox speed, power etc. Don't get me wrong - I can see that would be great fun perhaps 25% of the time, but for the other 75% having a load more torque at lower revs means easier access to acceleration.
