Hello again ( old log on not working ).

Just been on the look out for z4mc's. Have found a black one that just seems soooo right. The depreciation must be near the bottom of the freefall phase because the car is around 12K off list after 18months. I know it was overpriced at the beginning and a few have been burned badly. My question is how much further until they level off because at sub 30K that is a whole lot of car for the money when you compare to porsche Cayman s money (quality issue's aside).
Also any idea how much stealers can be bargained down on price on a non-trade in purchase.

I just can't help thinking it's really good value at the mo.

Thanks to all for any responses

I don't think they will level out until the low-mid 20s. I know a lot of people won't like the sound of that, but I'm being realistic, and I own one of the damn things!

Luckily I have no plans to change it for many years yet though smile

Im confident they wont really move much at all over the next 6-12 months. I bought mine in September, and still have yet to see a car with eqaul spec/age/mileage cheaper than I paid for mine.

In 6 months time, Im also confident there wont be anywhere near the numbers available for sale that there is now.

I honestly think they may actually go up slightly when availability dries up slightly.. I can't see them getting to mid 20's for a year or so. That is top spec ones.

Optimistic I think folks !! I was offered Z4MC's at £28K sub 6k miles but local BMW dealer would have no interested in buying one back and would offer little even on p/x. Whilst by no means a bad car
they are not received aswell as expected and from my findings do not attract the same people as its predesessor. so with it being a 'toy' and concious of depreciation I plumbed for the Z3MC which I hope to enjoy in the near future.
otherwise for £30k go for the CSL!! but either way stick to BM. best of luck

Thanks guys

i'm considering keeping mine for just 2 years as a move may be on the cards after that.
what do you think one will be worth with ave miles. i'm figuring around 23ish as m3's on 54 plates are around that, if they follow the same lines of depreciation. its a better way i figure of loosing 6 grand over two years than on a corsa vxr or clio!! )

[ps any idea's on how much you can knock a dealer down on a full spec car advertised at 30 ish.?]

and is a csl really gonna hold it's value as much over the same time as they will be getting older, so far out of warranty that any goodwill from bmw will only be available if you marry the DP's pig of a daughter at the local dealership. !!!

has to be a M next but which one.

I bought mine in November last year, it was the cheapest newest lowest milage one in AUC, i fought to get the price down but they really wouldn't budge... i got just under a grand off, i think i could of got more but there wasn't another one in the dealer network the same spec that i could play them against frown

just make sure the one your looking at has sat nav as this really seems to effect resale

Agreed, my baby is just about to go up for sale due to Mrs CVP and I moving abroad for 2 years. As a blatant plug it's an 03/07 with virtually all the toys. Supplying dealer & two other main dealers simply not interested in purchasing the car from me at any price, never mind the very reasonable price I had in mind. It seems that the overall car market is very slow at the moment and with the Z4MC being such a niche model demand is very limited at the moment.

On the upside for you, you should be able to haggle well if a dealer does have a Z4MC in stock smile

PM me if interested in the spec and price for mine, photos to be taken over the weekend and then it will be up in the classifieds.

Tried to trade mine in against a CSL today. Got a bid of 23.5k for a 06 car with 21.5k miles... I am off to buy a RS2 outright with the money that I will drop if I was to switch cars...

True point CSL's when they first came out were mega overpriced. Now only Mid Milage , out of warranty cars are under 30k. Solid residuals for those who brought after the initial price drop. I would have thought the CSL is in as small a niche as the z4mc as the back seats are seriously uncomfortable and most people have access to a proper five seater as well if they want a super coupe. ps the niche can't be that little as have seen alot of caymans, 350z's, boxsters etc... around as well.

ps if your gonna trade in at a dealer for the csl they would be looking at a 5k markup on your car hence offer around 23k.
They aren't called stealers for giving fair trade in's. Did they offer you any discount on the sticker price of the CSL? i bet they were looking at making 5k+ ish on that deal. Supply of Z4mc's should dry up soon as production stops soon , i think.
