What are the average prices for a decent M3 GT? I know only 50 were made in RHD, but what about LHD imports?

Apart from the M3 GT register, which doesn't seem to be updated regularly, is there any other source of info on the net for these cars?

Thanks.

Other than Google I'm not sure.

Remember the GT is only the original 3.0 model. The GT2 was the outgoing special edition of the EVO. The proper 3.0GT had handpicked engines, different tuning (c.300 bhp up from 280) as well as aluminium doors, special alcantara trim, the high level rear spoiler and the adjustable front spoiler.

Was that not what the OP was asking?

The 3.0 GT is a proper bit of kit whereas the GT2 in fairness is just an Evo with some toys.

Anyway, as I recall, prices are still fairly high (i.e between 7-10k) for decent examples. RHD's are rare as rocking horse dooda and IMO are not worth the premium. Best place to look is probably Mobile.de I would have thought.

Are they actually worth it over a standard E36 M3, though? Save for rarity, that is?

As a track tool yes. For the road, probably best sticking with a nice Evo.

It wouldn't take much to get either a 3.0 or an evo set up to be just as good as a GT though so probably not worth it unless you want one for the rarity and are going to cherish it long term

My thoughts exactly. Suspension/bushes etc will be on the to do list anyway. If weight is an issue I'd start with an early low spec, sunroof-less 3.0.

I personally don't see a reason for a premium although I'm sure others do.

My GT didn't have alloy doors.

It did have a twin pickup in the sump and large throttle bodies though.

Is worth more due to rarity, and a much nicer interior than the cooking 3.0. Many are now racing cars. 2 of the three sister cars that raced in the Combe series were converted GTs, painted white.

If you wanted a trackday car, I would use a 3.2 evo though...

Expect to pay around £7k for 100k miler GT.

Yup, I think EVO magazines 'project 8 minute' ring car was based on a 3.0 GT

What makes you say that?

To be honest, it's an irrelevance anyway as I would never get insured on one as i'm only 23, but i'm just interested to know.

you got me thinking of the project 8 minute M3, so though I'd google it to see if i could find the full article, didn't find it but found this one http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=... yep 370mm Carbon-Ceramic disks, you'd think the back end would overtake the front with them on eek

Indeed, and whilst we're willy waving (wink) I got insured at 24 on an Evo and an E34 M5.

I wonder why they haven't managed to get the car round in 8 mins yet?scratchchin

According this site, a standard E36 M3 can do it in 8:20, so shirley the £5k(?) they spent should be enough to buy 20 secs??

Also, A friend of a friend regularly takes his E36 M3 to the ring and apparently can do around 8 min laps....

So Autocar did it in 8:20 and Sport Auton 8:35? One of them is wrong and I'll let you guess which one! The E46 M3 does it in 8:22 and the E46 is the quicker car ....

Around 8 mins is a bit vague (although still very quick) so that could be 30 secs either side. I'm pretty sure the Evo car will be very close to 8:00 mins now though.

I've owned a 3.0 E36 M3 and a GT and the GT was the more special car .... although for track, I'd go with the advice above and go for a 3.2 Evo ... LHD!

Thats probably Bridge to Gantry - you have to add 25-30 seconds on top for a full lap

I have an E36 M3 GT which came runner up in the VLN 2006
and on slicks it will do 7.55 on a full lap !
this is with verified VLN timing gear and the wheelman who drives it said to get a 300bhp M3 GT on road tyres below 8mins is virtually Impossible

is the rear spoiler on the GT any good or just a looker.... I have one and am pondering fitting it to my track M3 (it doesn't have one at all at the moment).
