I noticed since I've switched from my 325i BMW (01) to my E46 M3 (53 plate) I seem to be getting attitude from certain drivers. There's been at least 5 occassions where I find people sitting on my bumper and driving aggressively behind me in their cars that are in no way capable of matching a M3 for speed - almost trying to imply I'm going slow.

I also find that people tend not to give way to me as much.

Today was a case in point - some tt in a J reg red estate drove on my bumper whilst sporting a cig' in his mouth and then continued to try and remain there on a dual carriageway when he could have easily overtook. This was dangerously close. I was already at 15mph over the speed limit and didn't want to go any faster. After a while I got pissed off with him and took the M3 to warp drive leaving him wallowing in the exhaust fumes (yes I know I shouldn't have reacted) - to which he starts to flash his headlights at me.

Now this really pisses me off - so I pulled up at the roundabout at the top of the carriageway to wait for him and ask him what his prob was (yes he was the straw that broke the camels back) - so he pulls up c75m up the carriage-way from me and parks up with his hazards on and refuses to come to the r/bout !!! After about 30 secs I just drive off...

I also get people who - in cars that will in no way match an M3 for speed - try and burn me off at lights ! This is usually preceeded by glances at me !

99% of the time I don't react to tts - but this is surely a case of M3 road-rage or something as I never really had any hassle in my 325 !

Anyone else have similar experiences?

Probably warning you your car was out of control and you were likely to crash.

Got it fixed then ?

Fairly common behaviour and definitely related to the brand. I only ever got compliments when I drove a Chimaera. I've learn't to ignore them and refuse to react.

Here's another reason not to bother...

I've got an M Roadster and I get this quite often. Wouldnt be surprised if they see the quad exhausts and think ' doh whats this I'll race it' confused

I don't know for UK but in Belgium, the 320d IS the company car that a lot of young commercial received, use and abuse wanting to "race" or at least show their potential at each lights. So I wonder if the chav community is not looking for BMW to play a little.

I've stuck a 316i badge on the back of my M3 and it's stopped most of the tailgaters although I do get the occasional 318i fancying his chances laugh

It's strange, currently drive a Z4MC and haven't had any problems in 3 months. But on several occasions while driving the M3 people would either deliberately antagonise me with random coffee bean hand gestures, for doing absolutely nothing???

I've genuinely not seen any *bad* attitude towards me in my car. Are you sure you're not mistaking the "what'll she do, mister?" attitude for people being aggressive? A lot of people are petrolheads and like seeing nice cars being used for what they were made for. smile

Think that may be spot on. I've been lucky enough to run some fairly nice cars over the last few years and haven't had 'attitude' problems with any of them - quite the opposite in fact. HOWEVER having recently got back in to an M3 (E92) I HAVE noticed a marked increase in the number of people wanting to 'have a go' but I think as edbd49 says that this may just be fellow petrol heads who maybe relate to the car more than some of the others I've had and possibly also feel that they have more chance than against a more overtly 'sporty' looking ones. They're wrong of course wink, but good luck to them - all good fun!

M3 = girl in short skirt

Classy ladies (Astons, Ferraris) give the impression they're not up for a one-nighter and so people don't try it on, even if they're looking for one. Blokes will have a go at an M3/girl in short skirt because they give the impression of being more up for it.

Problem with classy ladies is that they are expensive to maintain, yet you get the same thrill with a girl in a mini-skirt and still have money in your pocket to buy contraception...

I never had any issues in my 996 - other than people nearly driving out infront of me on roundabouts because too busy looking at the car rather than the roundabout...

And do you really get hassle in M3's? maybe not a good next car choice?
