i cannot belive how difficult it is to get a decent ipod connection for my e46 m3 with prof nav screen.bmw have told me that it will cost £4oo to have an ipod cradle fitted retrospectively and i will jhave to lose my cd player.
a place in bolton quoted me £165 and the i pod sits in the boot and again i have to lose the cd changer.
i have bought one of those belkin fm transmitters and it is crap to be honest.its not too bad when stationery but that defeats the point in the car,
surely there must be a device that i can have fitted that lets me keep the factory equipment and lets me use an ipod?
please can someone help out with this,

Harsh

It is possible.....just a real pain.

i've had it done on mine...kept the cd changer and the ipod's in a cradle next to the stereo.
It's a denison unit
you have to run two cables to the back of the car...one to the stereo rf input (which is in the back) and then back to the ipod

or just buy or make the AUX-IN adaptor. It is a wire, 2 capacitors and a resistor from memory. You can plug it in on the head unit or the gubbins in the back but you cannot control it from the nav screen so unless you program your playlist before you move it is best in the front smile

You need a device called the Intravee. This allows you to connect up your IPOD with full display on the Nav screen and steering controls also. The Intravee costs US$250.00 (Approx £125.00) You will also need the Alpine KCA-420i (approx £55.00) which the IPOD and Intravee is connected to. The install is very easy. See
www.bimmernav.com or www.intravee.com or do a search for Intravee on Google. I have it in my e46 M3 convertible and its an excellent piece of kit

Intravee is the way to go, you do lose the CD multichanger unless you switch to an Alpine unit, but if you've got an iPod anyway, who cares? If you still need the CD then there's always the "secret" CD player behind the screen. hehe

I fitted mine in about 40 mins from start to finish, easy job.

BMW to E46 iPOD adaptors available from www.caraudiosecurity.com
click on the following link:

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/search_result.php...

they do a few, depending on whether you have a monitor / cd tuner etc. Straight-forward to fit and still allow full control of steering wheels controls etc.

Also, normally available from stock!
