Looking to purchase an E46 M3 for an everyday car for myself, and was told that Imola red was a very unpopular colour, likely to affect resale value! What is everybodies opinion and what features should I loook for on these cars?Has anyone got a nice low milage car for sale up to £20k?

Personally I think the Imola red on an M3 looks great. Escpecially if you can get the champagne leather interior.

Wanted Imola red so much when I was looking. Couldn't find one soon enough so went for the midnight blue instead which is very nice.
Not sure why there isn't many knocking about because they look gorgeous. Go for it

Imola Red is a fantastic colour and looks especially good on the E46 M3.

Lovely colour, and unjustifiably rare. It's non-metallic, I believe, so presumably people think it's a less attractive choice without actually seeing it in the flesh. Wouldn't want it on an M5 though.

Imola Red is fantastic. Just make sure you get it with black nappa and sitting on 19's or CSL alloys. There's an E60 M5 at Elms in Bedford IIRC and that looks the boocks! smile

A colour that will polarise opinion.

Personally, I would be embarrassed to be seen in a sports car/saloon car in such a loud colour.

Imola wouldn't put me off! I used to have a Silver e46 M3 I sold and have since brought an Imola Z4MC which looks great and everyone comments on how great it looks in Red!

I like it. But then again, I would smile

(terrible photo, sorry)

I think the colour is personal choice - I had a carbon/Imola leather M3 a while back, but thought there was just too many of them around. I think the Imola makes them look classy. Its a question of choice. If it affects the resale, it could be either way. You might find a buyer that only wants imola, to stand out a bit from the silver/grey/carbon, whilst you might also find guys that want a bargain 'cause its a bit different.

As for the M5 at Elms, it does indeed look awesome but IMO its overpriced with 30k on it.

I agree, too many carbon black, titan silver and silver grey cars out there. I love my Z4MC in Imola, even when it's stinking dirty biggrin

Obviously everybody who has a red car loves red. No problem with that, but it is a colour few will be indifferent to, hence the market on re-sale is much smaller.

Someone down the road from me has a red one and it looks sweet. Go for the red, just avoid Phoenix yellow or Laguna Seca Blue vomit All IMO of course

Generally speaking, I don't like red cars (incl. Ferrari) but I reckon the M3 looks good. Though saying that, I do like the Laguna Seca and Phoenix too, as they're pretty rare and only an M3 colour.

I had the chance to give mine a good dust off over Christmas so here's a couple more gratuitous shots.

Yes, it looks good, but it's off the scale on the Top Gear Cockometer, so lots of folk won't buy a red M3.
