Having now spent quite a considerable amount of money on mods I find myself in a quandry....

I have 353bhp ish + perhaps another 15hp or so when the airbox goes on in January, this combined with a 3.64 diff make for quite an exciting time (when traction is available it is damn right fast) and really warants the Racelogic TC due in January as well.

My dilema is whether or not the extra 60/70/80bhp gain from a supercharger would render my car less enjoyable, less exploitable, potentialy unreliable and generaly less of an allround package because I do believe you can put too much power into a car. Not to mention the fact that the cams would probably have to come out and be returned to standard etc etc....

Does anyone have any thoughts on whether the extra power would be usable or just a waste perhaps even detrimental to the car as a whole? Any ideas how much it would cost?

Ideas welcome!?!

Cheers

yes

I'm not sure these engines will react well to forced induction (i.e. if you want to retain the driveability of it).

Hi Jason,

I asked for a quote for my E36 Evo from CA Automotive (same engine?) and they said 7 grand. To me, that's just way too expensive. I was unable to find any off the shelf solution for the M50 engine.

This stuff is crazy expensive to buy new.

I got a S50B32 engine with an ASA supercharger, headers, 6spd gearbox for 8700 pounds.
The engine had 1.000 km on it and the gearbox 5.000 km.

Got it through Ebay and it now happily lives in my E30 M3.
