Just been asked to drive my colleagues M3 back from a hire car company to work and my god I loved it!

Being a fairly liberal carefree bloke he even told me to put my foot down a bit to 'see what it'll do' biggrin

I've been in one before but not driving and the noise of the engine as you open it up and give it the full beans was awesome!

Now where did I leave that lottery ticket... lick

Do it! You'll never look back.

The only two down sides I see to an M3 are a) there's a lot of them about (stands to reason!) and b) where do you go from there for a similar budget? For sub £20k, its a cracking machine.

I guess you are talking about the new one (E92) Nick? (hire company and all that?)

It was on an '02 plate, and it was my colleagues that I had to return to our place of work after dropping him at the hire company to collect another car.

I did think I must have looked like a right smug tosser grinning from ear to ear at 21 driving an M3 through the town and down the dual carriageway!
Won't be able to afford one for a few years yet though frown

Hope you were insured (boring old farts corner!). But glad you had fun. I let my son drive mine at Bruntingthorpe at 18 and he was saying; 'I have to have a performance car'.

I was indeed insured under my own policy and our companies.

Apologies, i assumed that it would be the new M3 as hire companies normally plump for fresh cars. Glad to hear you enjoyed your drive out and don't worry about having to afford one (its good to want something and not obtain it straight away...i drove a 81' polo for years and it made me appreciate what was to come even more)

I assumed he meant his mate owns the M3 and was hiring another car (for a business trip?), so he was given the pleasure of driving his mates M3 back to the office smile

There is a third. The image, i.e. w@nker chariot, but that aside the M3 is a phenomenal car.
