So, just looking at a cheap E39 M5 in the classifieds.

118,000 miles.

It got me thinking. 118,000 / 20mpg = 5,900 gallons.

approx 4.5 litres per gallon at say an average price over the last 7 years of 89.5 pence per gallon...

£23,762 on fuel.

yikes

Thats all.

Noooooo! Dont do that! I normally turn the OBC display off with the mrs in the car as she would only moan. Its not really the point of owning a piece of motoring perfection though is it. Nice calculations though.

E34 M5. Filled it with £86 of fuel on Saturday. 230 miles later it's on the red. That's 14.5mpg...

Well done, ASBO, that's certainly using your turnip the way God intended.

In fact, that's worse than my M6. Quite insane hoofage, bravo! hehe

The E39 is almost parsimonious by contrast, wading in comfortably with at least 17-18 whichever clogs ye wear.

But you see that's the thing, I haven't actually been hoofing it too much. Alot of it was town driving though and I'm aware these things simple hate start stop trafic. I do hope it gets better...

4.6 Series 2 range rover would really hurt. We used to get 8mpg on a bad day.
