Hi Steve - I think you've sold your Z4MC now, but am looking for a set of the CSL wheels for mine. I've been on ebay and there's quite a lot on there...is there some feature/serial number etc that I can ask about which will ensure the ones I'm bidding on are genuine BMW wheels rather than replicas?

Cheers mate,
J.

Oh and while we're on the subject of wheels...would M6 19" wheels fit a Z4M?

I have a supplier of these alloys if any are interested, PM me and I will furnish you with contact details. Just as a point of reference, the CS rims are slightly heavier, but not by much and the fronts are 8" wide, never mind the part numbers, that is a dead giveaway yes

I have one 8" and one 8.5" that are currently not on a car and will weigh them both just for evaluation purposes. I was told that the weight difference is due to the 8" rim being made from a heavier alloy but I can't imagine that it is much, I will report back thumbup

There's a guy on ebay that sells genuine CSL wheels with tyres for around £1,600, can't remeber his details but a few people have used him and he's supposedly decent

Jeremy, these are the details you are looking for;

http://bmwfans.info/original/E46/Cou/M3CSL-S54/ECE...

With the original CSL owners I organised a deal with Murketts BMW to supply around 50 sets of CSL wheels to customers in the UK and internationally. At the time the deal we agreed was £995+VAT for a set of 4 wheels. I heard of a few similar deals available, one of whom was from Simpsons Motorsport who also supply the OEM wheels.

I'd suggest you give either Simpsons, Thorney or Murketts (01480 459551) a call who will all be able to provide you with the genuine CSL wheels.

The CS wheels I have for sale are totally unmarked and "As New"
I bought them directly from my local main BMW dealer with the brand new Michelin Tyres.
They have only covered 3000 motorway miles. The purchase price from BMW was £2500 and hense I am looking for sensible offers

lol, CSL wheels can be had for under £1200 new from a dealer, how come the CS wheels were so much more (given the rears are the same part number). I'd be having a word with your dealer.

List price for CSL wheels from a dealer was £1300+VAT, so just over £1500, then of course tyres would add a further £700-900 or so, so around £2200-£2400 without any discount.

If you pick up the alloys for £1150 + £650 for a set of Goodyear Eagle F1s then it should be possible to own a new set for around £1800 all in.

Thanks for the comments.
I did research at the time of purchasing and the chap on eBay was typically selling his with tyres for anywhere between £1900 - £2200 , then you needed to add postage and fitting.
I equally looked into sourcing the tyres myself from a trusted and reliable bulk supplier locally and again the difference was neglible, so plumped for getting it all in at the time of buying the Z4M Coupe

Anyway I accept......this is all irrelavent now to be honest. There may well now be other offers available.

End result is... I have a genuine, original, unmarked set available with virtually new tyres and am open to offers.

Cooksferry engineering in Enfield, supplied me a set of CSL wheels Brand new from the dealer for £1080 incl VAT. It is also true that the CS front wheels are more expensive than the CSL ones (weird, I know but true)

Do you think that you would really be able to tell the difference in real terms?
