Hi Chaps,

I'm picking up a 2006 M3 on Saturday and will be looking to put my own plat on it. I haven't had the plates made yet and was going to get them made a bit shorter (its 6 characters) but have noticed on some E46's that they have plate surrounds so a short plate would look odd. Does anyone know if these can be removed or am I better off just getting the full length plates (at least for the front).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers
Woody

yes Two screws.

It will leave you with two screwholes in the front bumper which may or may not bother you. You could always fill them and touch them up with some paint and you'd never know. I left mine but my car is black and you don't really notice them unless you're looking. I kept the surround anyway so it can easily go back on.

Thanks bud. I take it the screw holes not be covered by the plate then? Hmm...mine is Imola, so I might opt for the full size plate....I'm not especially gifted with the touch up pen!

Hang on, I'll go and measure the distance between the holes.

(No really, back in a minute)

18 inches/45cm between the holes. I'd assume all E46s are the same even though mine is a CSL.

hehe Thats priceless!! Thanks a lot for doing that. I think a standard plate is 20.5 inches, so it might just work..... hmm...

Cheers Dude, appreciated.
