E39 M5 Prices?
Discussion
Prices do vary from car to car depending upon colour (interior and exterior), service history and bills, delivery spec, aftermarket upgrades and the number of owners. I would not buy a car for less then 12K (E39 M5) but do think that that is a little low, look around the 12.8-14K mark for the best cars.
Somewhat perversely I'm thinking of trading my E39 for a Focus.
Mainly due to stupid running costs, but also Mrs C hates it and my work mates think I'm BMW driving w4nker.
I'm still nervous about trading 400 UberHP for about 120 oil-burnerHP.
Anyone want my M5?

God these things are getting stupidly cheap even considering running costs they are starting to look viable. 400 bhp uber saloon for the price of a new focus
Dont tell everyone !!!Some people are sitting waiting for the right one to come up
Adding to the stable Just incase any of my lot see this
Just petrol really so far. My daily commute is about 5 miles of stop/start. Engine does roughly 16mpg and, with a much needed weekend blast that comes to about 220 quid per month petrol. Average weekly speed - 21 mph. And thats pressing on until the DSC cuts in and slows me down (at weekends!). The beast is just not getting the exercise it needs.
Tyres are good at the mo, but will be around 180 each, insurance about 670.
Fantastic car, but a little rich for me at present.

Thanks Dr.C. Like everyone else, I'm reeling at how low the purchase price is in comparison to eg a 530i.
Fuel consumption is 50-100% higher than other cars.................but if you buy a shitter for day-to-day, and use an M5 for occasional longer trips.......then the additional fuel costs start to become insignificant in comparison to insurance, depreciation etc..........
Just trying to talk myself out of buying one.

Had mine for 18 months now, put 36000 km on it, and only repair was a leaking diff seal, around £200 to fix at a dealer.
Doing 21 MPG with 100+ mph cruising speeds, and generally it just feels extremely well-made and the interior is just in another league compared to current BMWs (notably the 1 and 5 series) as well as being a supremely comfortable autobahn stormer.
Just my 2 pence...

I have wanted one of these forever but since the new one has come out these seem massively dated, not sure when it happened but it has.
Trying desperately to overcome that as I think for the money they cant be beat!
If you have ever had the pleasure of seeing the two models parked side by side you would quickly realise that the E39 looks 'just right' and the E60 is far too large and lacking proportion.Trying desperately to overcome that as I think for the money they cant be beat!
