The faster you go the louder the music gets, whether you like it or not. And I don’t. Checked the book, the menu & asked my dealer but still can’t find any way of disabling it. Anybody here know if there is a way round it?

No. Just some random comments from me...
That would be good if you were driving a tractor, or an 80s diesel pug, not a '00s BMW. A good sign of a cars refinement is not having to turn the volume down after you stop and turn the engine off....

I had a similar thing with my my mini cooper s a few years ago...

I never questioned it as i thought it was standard thing then, however my Z4MC doesn't do this though. Have you checked the options list on your car??

But the Z4M is not really designed to be refined though. It just gets louder and louder - but then again, you shouldn't really have the stereo on...

Hold your finger on the music symbol, the one that gets you the treble and bass etc.

Hold it for a few sec's longer and you'll get a sub menu and it is the speed volume bit you need to adjust usually 0 - 6, 6 being the most sensitive. Reduce this to 0 and the volume will only change if you adjust it.

For the integrated re-map push and hold down the 'sport' button for ten seconds whilst ensuring the ignition is set to position '1'. Release sport button, turn ignition to '0' position and hold 'sport' button down for an additional 5 seconds - this will give you an additional 15 bhp, the only downside being slightly worse fuel consumption.

I think that's how to adjust it on cars without sat nav, if you've got sat nav try this

1. Turn Radio on
2. Within 8 seconds push the SEL button for 8 seconds till service menu comes up
3. First is serial number
4. Push the Right Arrow twice and Gala Menu Appears
5. Select setting 1-6, I set this to 2.
6. Turn off radio.

If that doesn't work have a look on Z4-Forum where I got it from.
Oh and you can also switch on the Perspective view on the sat nav from that menu I think.

Once perspective is enabled in the service menu when you have a map displayed if you select Map Positioning the perspective option will be there.
