Interesting there is only one for sale in the official dealer network but 33 available if you click on 'cars coming soon' (presumably ex demos).

there are certainly loads around if you don't want to wait...

At that price, I'm not surprised there are cars available!

There's 4 cars available....cheapest one £53,500 and 150 miles. Not a great spec.

The 'bargain' one is this: -

Loads of spec and £54,000.

Demo's can be sold after 3 months, there are 150ish dealers each with a demo so yes there will be some available. T'is nothing new.

Exactly. Well said.

Please, can someone tell me the point of these 'stating the obvious' type threads re new M3 values?

Indeed it isn't...I think what's being discussed here is the myth of huge demand; enough to maintain values at or above list. If there was this huge demand and long waiting lists, I'd expect the ex-demos to have already been snapped up before having to be advertised on BMW Approved Used. I think it's the fact that they haven't been...i.e. if you want one there's some available in a choice of colours and specs.

Don't get me wrong - I'm delighted that there isn't the huge demand discussed. I may well want one of these babies in a years time! Lovely cars...especially in white!

Did I say there are huge waiting lists?

The X5 had huge demand as it was the first in it's market, the new X5 is a better car but there is only a waiting list for the sd version mainly due to the fact there is more choice in this market now.

The E46 M3 launch timing was perfect, the market for BMW's was booming and most felt very positive about the econmy etc and as there where fewer cars being brought in the lists soon grew.

The market and competition is very very different today, they are still selling and there is a demand it's just the product is there this time.

I really can't see why there is a need for 3 threads saying the same thing, cars depriciate FFS it's not a new thing.

Hey - point taken. I didn't start the 3 threads. I wasn't saying you said about huge waiting lists...but there has been an expectation that demand would outstrip supply...and the demand just hasn't materialised. Too many people making too much of unjustifiably luke warm magazine reviews. Economic climate. BMW not witholding supply. etc

Apparently it's not just new M3's which are going to take a right hammering- it's also F430's & R400's too... ;0)

Seriously though Pugsey- good on you for enjoying these cars without panicking about residuals etc

thumbup

Eh? What? Oh sorry couldn't hear you with my head buried in the sand. Now, who do I pay to take these worthless cars off me. I mean who in their right minds would be prepared to 'loose' a little money to see a new M3 and a 430 (amongst others) sitting in their garage. Mad aren't I? But happy.smile

Cheers.

Pugs.
