I've had my new Z4M for about 3 weeks now and am having a nightmare with the bluetooth pairing furious

I've got 2 Blackberry phones; an older one and a new one. On the day I got the car I managed to get the old BB paired without too much trouble (the procedure described in the manual didn't seem to work the way they expalin it). I've now tried to pair the new phone and it just won't play ball.

I'm doing what the manual says; lower the drop down compartment between the seats and hold down the 'phone' button for 3 seconds with the key in position '0'. Keeping the button pressed, I turn the key to position '1' and keep it held for another 3 seconds. All that happens is that the screen pops up and goes to whatever function I had it on when I last drove the car confused

Can anyone help with this little dilema? I'm loathed to take it back to the dealership as they're a hell of a long way away and I get the feeling I'm simply doing something wrong.

Thanks in advance,
Dom.

I think you'll find the bluetooth system isn't compatible with all phones. It works great with some, I'm sure I read a thread on www.z4-forum.com which detailed the blackberry has compatibility issues. Log on and search, it's been discussed at great length. There's a BMW website which lists compatible phones too.

I forgot to add... I've checked the BMW website and they're showing the same level of support for the Blackberry 8300 as they do for the 8800 (my old phone).

Try holding the button down just before turning the key to the first postion. The screen should show "bluetooth pairing" once you get this far you have done it correctly. Then its just a qeustion of your phone working with the system.

The 3 seconds thing is a bit vague. Try it for 5s before and after. I usually have to have a few goes at it to make it work.

Cracked it thanks to the http://www.z4-forum.com/ link biggrin

Seems the advice in the manual is bcensoredcks! What I did was to hold down the button for 3 seconds with the key OUT of the ignition, then stick the key in, turn it to position 1 and release the button as soon as the screen starts coming up. Bingo... got comms smile

Thanks to all for your help and advice.
