I've had my M5 for a few months and up untill the last 5 days it has been very good at what I used it for. Day to day family transport, holiday in scotland with the family and generally getting around.

I've just got back from 5-days driving over on the Isle -of Man and the cars depth of abilities are simply stunning. Elastic turbine power all the way to the limiter, superb steering weight, great body control and an ability to shrink around you the Mercs I've owned simply could not do. Whether 1 or 2 up blasting along fast open roads or taking 4 guys to the pub for dinner the M5 just shone. Then made the 270 mile motorway trip back from Heysham quiet, swift and comfortable.

Regular blasts over the mountain with 120-130mph attainable where traffic allowed easily achieved. Overtakes of dawdling traffic made progress simply awsome. Avarage speeds simply not achievable in the south of england.
If you have never been, the Island is a great place to take a driving holiday. Friendly people, car friendly authorities and low traffic volumes. Good challenging roads too.

Great car, great location and five great days had by all. Back to work tonight though. That's gonna hurt!!

Great place to visit. Went in May this year and am Going back again next year, dragging a few other PHers along too.

Had similar feelings about my E39 when pushing it through Scotland earlier this year "touring" with a TVR and a Gallardo.
