airbag warning light on e36 M3

my non evo e36 is showing the air bag warning light, is it a common problem?
many thanks, is it easily remedied?

Could just be the cable under the seat for the belt tensioner has failed, this can cause the airbag light to illuminate.

As above Either that, or the connection in the steering wheel has come adrift (less likely).

You will however have to have it re-set with the BMW diagnostic tool. I replaced the big ol' bus wheel with something more managable and had to get my friendly indie to re-set it.
