Get it into a main dealer, most are pretty good.

Main dealers don`t have a clue, I had over £4K`s worth of warranty work done on mine a week after I bought it and it turned out to be a defective tyre.

Find a good Indy who specialises in ///M cars.

What model is it? E30,36,46....

If it's an e30 I can certainly help...
otherwise, an Indy of which there are many...

Cheers - Nick

Assuming it's a uk car, an 05 plate is still under manufacturer warranty, so I'd have fewer concerns on the mechanical side as long as the service record is present and correct.

A dealer should charge you an hour or 2's labour to put the diagnostics on it, have a quick shifty on the ramps and drive it.
