these engines are designed with piston rings that breathe hence the reason they use a bit of oil, as long as the car is not smoking like a trooper and just burning 100ml or so every 1000 miles, thats a good engine. What is the mileage out of interest?

Are you sure it's got the right sort in? (I know it's hard to check!!) M engines should only use Castrol TWS / EDGE (not Sport) 10W/60. If it's the wrong sort, consumption will probably increase.

Mine doesn't ordinarily use a drop, so I would be a bit concerned. No leaks?
