Yeasterday i Took my good freind Martin Thomas to collect his new 997 GT3 RS,
after a 6am start, we finaly got to the Porsche center and he took delivery of this fantastic new car. It is now 4pm and we have to drive back through the center of London to get to the M3 motorway, after a number of phone calls to Martin and the stop start all day that we had done in trafic, i was feeling rather fresh and realy pleased for Martin that he had acheived a what he had by actualy getting to be the first owner of this GT3 RS in Orange (well done me old mate).
We were sat in trafic, myself in the E92 M3 and Martin behind in the RS, Motorbikes and cycleists coming past us with a nats cock of distance from both our mirrors and bodywork..... Then the phone rings, i hit the i-drive button and answer the call to hear Martin Shouting his head offshout"IF ONE OF THESE Ccensoreds hits my Fcensoredg car i am going to get out and shuv there Fcensoredg Ccensoredg Bike up there Fcensoredg bottom mad, With wich i started to laugh, Then poor old Martin took the wrong turning and got lost because the sat nav was changing the route because of the traffic problems that were in London.
I had to give him one of those calm down talks and get him to give me a name of a road where he was so i could go and rescue the situationcool.
Eventualy, after the longest day of my life, we got out of the trafic and started to head home on the M3, The GT3 RS looked and sounded so nice that i have decide to get rid of my M3 collection and upgrade to one of these GT3 RS's. The E92 done the job we both thought rather well on this road trip, it was comfotable, Martin never complained about the lumbar support, (must have lost a few pounds)!! we reached silly speeds on the way to get the Porker and both said how well the E92 pulled after 160mph!.... topping off at 172 on the digital read outbiggrin.
The E92 M3 is a great car and it got lots of looks while we were driving through London, that V8 sound and the torque of that engine is realy nice, the delivery of power is positive and the steering spot on, in all a well ballanced car.
The E46 i have is not as good as the E92, but good for a cheap every day hack to work and for the Mrs to go shopping in, and as for the CSL..... Well that is a great car and it will pain me to see her gocry but i am afraid to say they all have to go to make way for a GT3 RS that has stolen my heart and to be honnest i dont want it back.... The days of the M3's have been great and i would never change them for the world, but its time to move on and get a car that suits what i need best.... and the GT3 RS ticks all of the boxeswavey

So if you are looking for one of the above mentioned

drop me a mail....

Thanks Martin, you have opened the door to a new level of car for me, what colour shal i go for? Black, Orange or Green..... Hmmmmmmmwoohoo

You are either a fantasist or criminally irresponsible and deserve to be put away or locked up, as appropriate.

And then he woke up... you really must stop eating cheese before bed biggrin Seriously though, not only have you opened yourself up to the long arm of the law, you'll struggle to find a buyer for that car now everyone knows how you treat it!

LOL.....you cant tell me, anybody who buys the new M3 is going to drive it arround at 55mph...., its been properly run in, had its service, and most importantly it has over 900 days of waranty left on it, it is better buying a car that has had one driver from new, than an ex demo that has had all the local test pilots thrash it up the road every saturday afternoon.
would you not see what you get for your £60k then?!.....Yeah right! I bet you wouldn't!!
Thanks for the advice anyway......biggrin

GT3RS - clap

Finding one might be an issue, let alone being colour selective.

I'd include the GT3 'Club Sport' as an option. Prettier IMO.

Edited to add that 'bragging' about mega-speeds on UK public roads is dangerous and irresponsible territory. Don't think it impresses anyone.

Is that the best you can come up with Ross? Seems to be the only humour in your otherwise very limited repetoire jester Dorset eh.... just down the road from me. Any chance you could move somewhere else and lower the 'pr**ks on the road' stats for the rest of us? You know what, I might just call you about that M3 of yours... might be good to know where you live. Beware coppers on web forums laugh

Geneve is IMO one of the more informed voices on the Porsche forum and I'd agree with his comments. Had one of the first GT3s and still use an RS regularly and frankly on road there's nothing in it - other than the RS HATES ramps whereas the GT3 merely dislikes them.. Clubsport spec with buckets cage etc. - which mine was - gives you the full experience too.

Oh btw Popham is just down road from me and a mate flies a Yak out of there. I fly out of White Waltham but still going through the learning process by staggering round in a good old P28. Yes Pitts are great - Caterham of the sky!

Properly Run In..... I seriously doubt that. Your ad says 1000miles, that must be about the time for the 1st oil change. Have you never heard of mechanical sympathy? The most important part of an engines life is the very beginning part - I'm not an advocate of poodling around, but flat out at 1000 miles show very little sympathy in my book, and from your previous rantings I also seriously doubt that it was the 1st time the car hard been well and truely ragged...... Buying? Not me, but if I were, with what I know, yours wouldn't even make the list. Good luck with the sale BTW.....thumbup

Ragging a new motor on the rev counter might not be very good for it but the best way to bed the rings in is hard acceleration under load.
This forces combustion gasses behind the rings pushing them tighter to the bores which removes the cross hatching before the bores become polished. As once the bores are polished they stay that way and combustion pressure is able to leak past causing loss of power. Probably the reason that the former "Press" cars seem to go very well.

It must be true, I read it on the net!!! ;o)
