As much as i like watching Tiff drive like that i thought the feature on the M3 was totally pointless..i would rather see what the car is like in the real world in normal driving conditions. He could have done what he did last night in a Caterham and had just as much fun.Bottom line is we didnt learn anything about the new M3 or actually whether its any good or not.

Well there we have it, A Caterham and just as much fun, You have hit the nail on the head.... Cant drive a Caterham from Dorset to Scotland without getting wet or back breaking numbness though, You can in a E92 M3 for sure, and even get out as fresh as a daisy!I have got a E92 M3 sat on my drive, its better than an E46 M3 and nearly as rewarding as the CSL, If you would like to join me for the day and watch me drive my M3 round london and be sat in a traffic jam for half the day thats fine.... Are you one of these people who sit in a deck chair by trafic lights sporting a high vis jacket and marking little squiggles on a sheet of paper for your local council by any chance....?
Pointless...... Well i agree..... your reply to this post is exactly that!

Not yet, would rather keep it than let it go for 3.5K over list, I think i can run this car until early next year before i make a loss, even then it wont be a big one!
Not a chance of getting anything over list with cars available from stock.kayc said:
Coopers in T/wells have 2 for sale for one week delivery..both cars 57k and similar spec ..one red with black, the other black with red, plus a blue demonstrator..i got the impression these were dropped orders due to the luke warm press response over the last few months.

I agree with you Kevin, that could have been any car that Tiff was tail-sliding around that circuit. It would be so much more refreshing to see a comparison test, some real road driving and a thorough evaluation. Deutscher said:

Totally agree. However good a driver he might be, Tiff's reviews are usually pretty pointless.
I'm luke warm about the new M3, and I didn't find the 5th Gear report particularly inspiring. I think the RS4 has got that battle won, but I'd rather have a used 997..
If you can buy these "from stock", why is there a waiting list until next year then? and further to the point, no dates are even set in stone next year. BMW will tell you your order is placed but delivery date will be in 2008, thats from January until December, I would not place an order for a car that will turn up some time next year when i could pay a few grand over the list and have it now or even better put my money on the table nearly three years ago and have a delivery on time. Also BMW are even delaying delivery of this years allocation because they can't deliver the second phase on time.

Better keep it then matey because you won't get over list - certainly not £3.5k anyway. Of course that leaves you with the problem of what to do with with the SECOND car you've got coming in Nov. doesn't it? Not so easy this speculation lark is it?mbutchers said:

As said on the previous thread there is about 6 cars available but there are 150+ dealers......
That is not making the car available!
Donut - did you call your customers...?That is not making the car available!
I did inform them that on an internet forum it was a well know fact that they aren't selling and maybe they should reconsider........
Still they said no......
I will phone them next week when I should get them for half price!

Read the other topic started by Deutscher - there are apparently a few car available that are either cancelled orders, or pre-ordered dealer stock - I had official confirmation of one of them yesterday - from the dealer.Once these cars are sold (and I've no doubt they will), then it'll be back to a 6-8month wait, obviously dealer dependant. Let's be in no doubt, these are obviously very good cars - but also what is in no doubt, is that the dealers are talking them up. These cars will IMHO follow the supply/depreciation curve much the same as the RS4 did. Hard to get hold of for 6 months or so, and then business as usual.
I'm sure there are a few disgruntled Audi owners out there (I know one of them), who, after they lapped up the sales speil, are not too happy with the bid situation on their 12-18 month old cars - don't kid yourselves that the M3 won't follow suit.
Pugsey has the right idea - thinks the car will be spot on for his intended use and expect normal depreciation - anything different will be a bonus.....
As for the Tiff test - well, a bit of a laugh, but have to agree with Kayc here - it told me absolutely nothing about the car, and how it is suited to the normal condition in which it will be driven.
All IMHO obviously...

Agree with general opinion re. Tiff - all his 'tests' ever prove is that he can drift a car. Great fun but so what.
He can certainly get a car sideways but, if you watch the M3 review carefully, you'll see that the shots were joined together to give the impression of longer drifts. I think premiums (if any) on M3s will be short-lived. It's not enjoying the 5-star ratings that some people might have hoped for, and as greater supplies filter through and early cars find their way back into the market, used prices will drop significantly - as they did for the Cayman, RS4, etc. It's not a GT3RS.
