Might be nothing more than a twin turbo version of a smaller engine to create a mid-range sporty model (e.g. 545 Sport or 550D Sport).

I don't think the current M5 has much to worry about as the new R8 didn't give it much trouble at Bruntingthorpe last week - easily hitting a limited 170mph in half the runway from a standing start.

the M5 engine can produce more power easily with a rev limit increase according to informed rumour.

I can't see them producing an M7 from the current 7. It's being replaced next year.
