My local BMW dealer wrote to me (they know I'm a sucker for buying these cars) to say they had a new M3 in this weekend. So I wandered down there today for a look. I've been considering placing an order for a while and thought seeing one in the flesh might be the deciding factor. However it didn't really visually strike me. The E46 M3 really jumped out as different to the lesser models the E92 didn't and still left me wondering if I might be better with the more practical and more powerful M5. At the very least I'm waiting until I can drive one before I part with my cash.

Just my thoughts. I'm sure it will be a fantastic drive and I'll probably fall for the car when I eventually get behind the wheel.

Saw a red one in the flesh parked up in Camden last weekend. Pictures really do not do it justice. Looks terrific in person!

I was disappointed.

I think the sides look lumpy.

...however.... the paint was really orange peely on the black one I saw. Also, if you look beneath the front bumper, there are two strange blocks of underseal material just ahead of the front wheels, and are the lowest point of the car. It doesn't look like they would stand up to much of a scrape. Finally, off side front air dam hole has a radiator behind it - intercooler I presume, whilest the nearside spirals into the engine bay, not to the brake - which is a shame.
