Never having had an M3 I am intrigued why potential buyers would not consider a newish M6 which retails at £90000 but are selling for around £60000 with low mileage.

Am I missing something by never having had an M3?

M6 everytime imo. Much better value for money.

they are different cars. If you want a superfast GT, go for the M6. If you want something a bit better suited to the twisties, go for the M3.

I think both are now to be concidered superfast GT's. If you want something for the twisties you'd surely buy something else. E30 M3 or some small sports car I'd imagine.

Different cars altogether. I still can't quite get my head around the new M3 (maybe time will put that right) but the Bangla Banger Special (M6) still doesn't float my boat and it's been around for a while now.
Wealth and taste do not go hand in hand IMHO when it comes to the M6

Maybe depreciation is the only upside to the M3.

The M6 is certainly tumbling pretty scarily fast (as is my M5 I hasten to add!).

Perhaps the M3 won't be so bad.
Other than that, nope, I can't see why you'd choose the M3..

I think they are pretty similar cars to be honest - both 2+2 - although M3 a bit more practical, both very quick, both grand tourers, both stacked with technology, where are the differences? Ok M6 is a bit mpre exotic but only because it is more expensive, they've even both got a carbonfibre roof!

Nobody cares but the M6 is the best kept secret in Schnellhalla, a veritable riot in every sense. With a jot of Tubification in the canon dept, it assumes the mantle of complete entertainer and on twisty B roads, is almost as intoxicating as a Catertin (or it can be, if you care little for the well being of Geraldine and her chums. wink)

I saw the new M3 yesterday and it has to be said, no twanger of anything remotely elasticated - a 335 coup of some type is svelter and via DMS, probably as swift - if not as wondrous to hear.

Good points. The M6 drives like a - large - Caterham. Huge fun. I'm getting an M3 as my daily smoker but if it doesn't rock my boat I'll get out after a few weeks at no loss and be used M6 bound. We'll see!

Coming from a man with a 430 and Rad experience, I appreciate the vote of confidence, something conspicuous by it's abscence until of course, people get under it's skin.

One or two serial 911 track bods have enjoyed spanking it thoroughly and if you go back to Sutcliffe's long termer in Autocar, his conclusion mirrored my belief.

Far from fashionable but immense depth of talent/repertoire.

In fact, I think overall, it's the best car I've had. smile
