After coming this close<makes very close hand gesture> to confirming an order a new Cayman S. I have bottled out, and gone for a Z4MC today.

The details:
Feb 2007/56 Plate. 1,850 miles.
http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/auc/car_details/0,,1260...

I got it for £31,000 including a years RFL. It about £22,000 saving over the Cayman S I came so close to buying.
I pick it next Saturday, which happens to be our first wedding anniversary, and we are then off to a swanky hotel for the rest of the day and evening.

BMW UK have recently sold a low mileage cheap batch of these cars to the network. There are a few others at the moment, with very similar specs. There is also a very nice 800 miler in Interlagos Blue, if you like that colour, get in quick. There is also another just like the one I bought, but a 2006 car without the Piano Black trim, I got in there firstwink

I think once most of these low mileage ones have found homes, Im told there isnt a glut of them at BMW uk, or as dealer demos. Therefore prices should stabalize for quite a while. (I wasnt told this by the dealer I bought it from, I done my own homework through some of my old BMW friends.) Although nothing is concrete, I cant see them being any cheaper than they are now.

For those of you who remember my thread about the E39 M5 I bought in March. You might find it at a certain North London BMW dealer. Its only about £7,500 more than I paid for it!

You are the same as me - I thought of changing my 987 Boxster S for a Cayman S too

Spoke with Dick Lovett also who have bought a batch from BMW according to the sales guy I spoke to. Seems that demand has been very slow - esp since the 3.0i sport is almost as quick. Gave me the impession that BMW had more up their sleeve as he was happy to go back to BMW to ask about my colour choice.

Still think that the car needs CSL alloys to make it a sharper looking car - £2000 + for wheels and tyres

Enjoy the car

Yep, did the same thing after selling my M3. Looked at a Boxster S and Cayman S but went for the M instead. Same sort of deal but SG with black nappa. The dealer also threw in a strut brace. smile

Cracking deal. I paid about another 6k for a new one without nav or hi-fi upgrades. Doubt I'll realize that difference at resale time.

Where did you get the quote of £2,000 for CSL wheels and tyres?? I have not looked into this yet.

One of the guys on the Z3M roadster forum - he said thats what he paid . Also said they were a perfect fit , no adjustment or spacers required. The contact at Dick Lovett seemed to agree at £2000 , maybe slightly more

Did you test drive the Z4MC - have not got that far yet !

Comments welcomed

Thanks

Well done, you bought the one I mentioned in my first thread. Lovely miles, My wife was trying to talk me into calling about that one, because she wanted Black leather. It sounds like you have already bought it anyway. When did you do the deal?

Select M cars, then body style Z4 M Coupe, and distance National. If you want you then filter down colour, spec etc.

Sounds like the 2 best ones have already gone thoughwink

I just can't believe how seriously good value these are used now. I mean, 800 miles is virtually new!

I think I'd be buying one if I wasnt so happy with the CSL.

Thanks - it may be a different car because 'my' one has Champagne leather. Phoned Saturday morning deposit down 10 inutes later.

Spent several hours at BMW Hungerford Friday because they have a huge selection but were not willing to budge on price.

SO excited ...

Sorry you did buy the one I nearly called about. What I meant is my wife was not so keen on Red, with Champagne, and thought your colour went better together.

So there is quite a few in the low 30s. Red isnt for me so I guess a blue one maybe. I know someone very snr in BMW so I might see if he can cut out the middleman for me!

Sensational value! Effectively a new car but about £16k off list! Some people must be really hurting though, having bought a car that loses 30%+ in 9 months!

Great deals. Congrats. These were 36k only 6 weeks ago when I was looking at a Roadster.

Someone mentioned Hungerford. The wouldn't do much on price when I visited either. Tightwads. I think you need to approach someone with a bit scarier used car stock value. When they've got a cool million sitting on the forecourt depereciating at an average of £500 per car er week they're a bit keener to talk business as you've found out!

To say that the 3.0 litre is almost as quick doesn't really do the M car justice...sure the 0-60 official times are only 0.7 secs apart, but it's the way it goes above that to 100mph and beyond, they way it feels and the noise it makes. It's a completely different car drive wise and not just differentiated by a 0-60 time. I was lent a 3.0si when mine went in for some warranty work. It was very nice indeed and a much better motorway companion. But technically, there's no comparison and I could see where that extra £10000 list price had gone.

I had the pleasure of doing about 20 laps of the Ring in tandem with a Z4 Coupe 3.0Si driven by two instructors from BMW Club Norway. The Z4MC is soooo much faster in a straight line, in the corners and on the brakes that you will not believe it unless you see it!!! Paper stats counts for nothing in the real world. The Z4 3.0Si is a nice car to drive, but after 20 laps my car had nothing wrong with it, whilst the Norwegians had warped discs and bald tyres.

The Z4MC will hit 0-60 in 4.4secs according to road tests - quite a lot more than 0.7sec me thinks...
