I am not a fan of Chris Bungle's designs, although I am warming slightly to the new 3er.

Today, I saw the new M3 in the flesh for the first time. I'm a crap photographer, so I didn't even bother taking pics, they wouldn't have been able to show you how much better the new M3 is than a standard 3er. The differences are much more subtle than the differences between the E46 3er and the E46 M3, but if you put a standard E92 next to an E92, there is no comparison. The new M3 really kicks the stock E92's ass when it comes to looks.

The design is still not as handsome to my mind as the E46, but it's clear to me that BMW have definitely improved the looks of the E92 dramatically with the new M3.

I may be slightly smitten. cloud9

I really don't see it myself. Having placed the original order back in oct 2003 I really was hoping it would be everything I imagined/hoped it to be. After seeing it in the flesh it is a huge disappointment to me.

I'm sure many will say you can't possibly comment without driving it etc.....but I was expecting the total package. For me a car can't just drive well it has to look the part too. The E92 M3 fails miserably in the looks department.

So if anyone wants a Space Grey/Black with lots of toys in the next 3-4 weeks, let me know and I'll put you in touch with the dealer. I have no intentions of taking the vehicle myself.

Must say i don't think you are alone!
I had a M3 CSL before and loved it, however I went into my local dealer a couple of days ago to see if i would change my mind about the new one when i see one in the "flesh" so to speak!! Imagine my surprise when the dealer offered me a Red car that they had in stock as a launch car. For immediate delivery!!!! I must say i am not on any of their "waiting Lists" etc and this was my first inquiry to them about the car. I was tempted but the problem in view is that i dosen't look that "special" And with a few options that this one had 19's etc it came out @ £58k on the roadeekeekeek
Now was it not that long ago that they had their fingers burnt by trying to sell a very desirable, limited edition, M3 with some ground breaking technology (carbon roof, Pilot cups etc!!), for £58k???
So why do they think we should now pay the same for a mass produced evolution of the E46? How much can they try and sell the new CSL for i wonder!!
I sure not every one will agreepunchrantingranting

Before you kick your M3 into touch try and see as many as you can in different colours, it is a very colour sensitive car.

I have just picked mine up today and have to say the drive is far better than the E46 M3, the looks and sound are better, it is more balanced, just better all round, The E46 is a great car but when BMW say that they are going to improve a car they know there eggs, This time they have got it even more right than they did with the E46...... Great car, the M3 gets better every time. Well done BMW.

I'm not a big fan of white cars (with the exception of the 997GT3...) but I've seen some photos of the new M3 in white and actually think it looks superb- shows off the detailing around the rear bumper etc. Anyone else agree?

I feel i've gotta have a little say here i've known ross for many years and can vouch that he is a true petrol head and not a speculator. i'm not saying that if someone came along and offered him a few grand profit that he would not take it as he is also a business man. i'm sure he will be keeping the car for a little while now as he was so impressed with the drive after actualy collecting the car. even though the seats are a little hugging!!lol

Nah - he's a speculator having already advertised the car, before taking delivery, at a thumping premium AND he says he's got another car coming in Nov. wink But so what - if people will pay good luck to him.

I viewed the new M3 at a dealer yesterday.

Something that disappoints me is the fact that the 19 inch alloys are the same as those used on the E46 M3.

Apart from the E30 which shared its crossspokes with the other BMWs at the time, all new M3s (including the CSL) have had a new design of alloys which on the whole have been rather good.

The new 18 inch wheels look OK, but I have a feeling they may make the car look underwheeled - I may be wrong though.
