What would the dealer price be for a car of that spec? Was just wondering what the guy's profit might be. Fair play to him for getting his order in early I suppose.

Similar spec to mine so I'd think around £57k though I don't have the full option prices to hand just now.

what can the dealer do?have they got a resale clause?if not then there is nothing they can do about it.
am suprised more car makers of exotics ect dont do same as caterham used to do and put a clause that says if the owner sells within a year of purchase(new) they have to pay caterham a £1000 fee.that stops a few of the speculators

I understood you could not sell for 3 or 4 months (not sure which as the dealer mentioned both over the years since placing a deposit)

Not sell you the car as they would be in breach of there contract to BMW as far as I'm aware.

We should as dealers try everything we can do to make sure these cars end up in the hands of customers and not those after a quick £ or two!

deffo agree with that, there are too many people after a quick buck who stop the enthusiasts who actually want the car getting their hands on them.
maybe a government petition banning cars being sold above list price for a start???

The new M3 is overpriced as it is, the price of options is usual bmw and discounts on the new M3 are rare, I am sure someone will buy it and then in 2 years will trade it in and wonder why they have lost 35k on it.

Just been told that the rrp of this car in current spec is £59895.00 with invoice to prove i agree that it sounds a lot but then some london banker is bound to want the latest toy asap and will be willing to probably throw away a couple of weeks wages to get his or her hands on it.

M6s dropping £25k in 6 months...

Z4Ms dropping £13k in 6 months (see other thread)...

...that's why I'm not taking my M3 option up, even after having been on the waiting list for 3 years.

You must have been down for one of the first cars - did you not consider at least experiencing it for a couple of months then getting out at little or probably no loss. You can usually do this during the first few months of production of these cars. At least you would have got some fun in return for three years of patience!
