M6 Tubification...
Discussion
So it came to pass that about 2300hrs last night, leaving the acrid haze of Fearnsport's Silverstone testing base (), what Manu has told me could be the first Tubified M6 in the realm began it's spearage northwards.
The pipes are a smidgeon more diametrus than the standard issue but nothing to illicit mistaken recruitment into the borg we call Da So Solid Crew Massiv. Fit and finish verges on the artistic - default Tubi then...
What surprised all present, however, was the Gallardofication of the horn section at higher peaks during an altogether subtle but most evident reworking of the orchestra.
On tickover, the slightly lightweight, almost nasal resonance has been replaced by a rich, baritone howl at a constant, surprisingly loud yet deeply satisfying pitch.
Plunging the charger in any gear seems to yield an ever so crisper burst of lightspeed, something I'm sure is no placebo effect and in 6th and top particularly, there is a pronounced gutteralisation of the intended prelope as the beastie girds itself for searing horizon abuse.
Through the gears, it's deeper, harder edged and generally redolent of a 456GT trumpetting Caesar whilst ploughing through 120 in 5th or 6th whilst amidst the lower cogs, that honey drenched mellifluence is ripped asunder by something with a broadsword, charging out of a Bavarian forest, swearing feilty to Wotan.
The M6 continues to establish itself as the most underrated, crushing sports GT in Christendom, quite different in opertaion and delivery to it's saloon sibling; an epic, interstellar bruiser with murderous gallop in the Outer Hebrides and if DMS can sort my '7th limiter' issue then puncturing the double ton is only a daring Tokyo Midnight Run away. Sutcliffe was right.
The only way from here is a jellymold and 700bhp.
I like to think Larry Wildman would have approved.
Schnell uber alles.

I can only imagine how marvelous it must sound. What sort of gains would a session at DMS bring about - other than the removal of the limiter?
7th, a long ratio, theoretically eases you where you need to be with relative peace and tranquility.
Unfortunately, as a number of eminent Vmaxians have concurred, the damn thing will not get past about 175 in 7th, even with a slow, steady build up.
As a season ticket holder for Bruntingthorpe and The Bottrop Pass, this is a major restriction which needs overcoming before I am outlawed for freeform thought violation.
The chaps from Soton are up next week, however and I'm told Roberto has a cunning plan - certainly W8PMC did not have the issue in his M5.
(Btw, this is a different issue to that of redlining 6th and changing up only to suffer the long legged rev/speed drop - that is gearing and I can accept it but topping 200 is not an option in my book.)
Hail and, er, schnell!
Paul, ring Manu at Scuderia, it's just the back section, had them a few months, this is just the first oppy I've had to get 'em done, about a grandish?
Fearnsport fitted them in no time at all.
Not keen on playing with BMW's basic meisterwerk, a bit of delimitation's one thing but pulleys? What's the supposed benefit, etc?
{Even the brakes work - and last - well on this bugger!}

Good to hear that you are pleased with the modification. Any chance of posting a sound or video clip?
I feel my M6 should be liberated too but I'm not sure whether to remove the intermediate cats (Birds) or go the whole new exhaust route.
I believe a man standing idle had a digicam, will try and sort something over the w/e.Good to hear that you are pleased with the modification. Any chance of posting a sound or video clip?

What do you think of this setup?

I like it but as one of the comments said, maybe sounds a bit too much like a muscle car unlike a crisp M5.
Edit: i do know yours is an M6 but im sure you can get the same setup.

Afraid I will not be able to find out how a modified M6 sounds because mine may soon be surplus to requirements.
I have just placed it into the Adverts section.
