I'm looking to remap my E30 M3 as I think she could do with a remap to improve the low down response and even out the power curve (yes, I know they generally don't have a lot low down...) My car runs 48mm throttle bodies and Schrick284s and it's been remapped in the past by the PO, but just wondering if any of you guys can make a recommendation as I think it can be improved upon...

TIA

What you really need is an A/N piggyback ECU. This allows you to remove the Air Flow Meter and uses Throttle Position and engine speed to calculate load.

There is a group buy of this system on the forum below.

Ditto what Steve said.

Mine has 2 x 284's and airbox with alpha-n. Pulls so well, although how well obviously depends on who maps the alpha-n.

There is a group buy being organised for Maxx Alpha-n etc of S14power forum.

Steve, Mark - thanks for the heads up.

Who is the best for mapping the AlphaN?

The guy who did mine is actually an Alfa specialist, but really knows his stuff re aftermarket engine management, however he will only work on BMW's through teh guy who fitted my Alpha-N, Les Stannard of Stannard Motors (a BMW specialist - 01737 555 273 - based in Coulsdon, nr Croydon/Banstead).

Where are you based, as there is a chap nr the Castle Coombe circuit in Wiltshire as well.

I've tee'd up a session with Les Stannard for sometime next week! Had a good chat with him - he seems a very knowledgeable chap over the phone. Just from initial discussions, I suspect I'll go for the Alpha-N and maybe the carbon box purely for the sound. He'll also have a good look over my car and see what else can be fettled/improved on for the road...

Just one thing to consider. If you do want to do trackdays in the future, and go for the carbon airbox just be aware that they can be a pain in the rear with trying to pass noise regs. They sound great, but the induction roar sends noise meters stratospheric.

Thanks for the warning. I don't think I'll be trackdaying the M3... I'm keen to keep it comfortable and in complete streetworthy form but with the added benefit of a torquier and more responsive S14.

Out of curiousity though, what db does the carbon airbox generate at 4.5k rpm?
