Parked on Battersea Rise Friday night? CSL wheels too, was that a carbon roof? If so how did you achieve that??- i'm sure it's owned by someone on here.

Parked mine down the road a bit (going to The Goat) as yours made mine look a bit s*it!

There should be a few of us Z4MC owners including sixspeed coming to the Virgina Waters meet.
There's quite a few coupe owners on Z4-forum, it might be the best place to post if you want to get hold of them.

More weight saved on a CSL (with a much larger roof panel) by changing the front brakes to APs, and that is unsprung mass too. Looks good though.

Hellooo!

Yes that was me (I think I'm the only white Z4MC with a carbon roof anyway - for the moment!). I see the thread has already been linked where I posted the how-to, so I won't bore you with the details. Quite nerve -wracking cutting the old panel out, but more than pleased once the new panel went in.

Yes, not a huge amount of weight saved (but there's more weight saving plans on the horizon - so it'll all add up in the long run), but I love the look of it anyway, so that is worth the money alone to me smile

Will be at Virginia Water anyway, so you can have a good poke around. The fit is great, and the finish of the carbon fibre is perfect, so definately recommended if someone else wanted to do it. The panel came from TC Kline in Ohio, off of their Carbon Coupe.

Another pic smile

I think its fair to say that I love this car.

Congrats on choosing white as well rather than interlagos blue colour that everyone buys to be "safe".

Actually, some of us bought interlagos ones cos...erm...it's a nice colour and we like it. Each to their own...but by all means keep those sweeping generalisations coming...

Sixspeed,

Roof looks brilliant, really nice on a white car.

I’ve just sent you an email – few questions before I order one.

Any help appreciated.

I believe the normal roof on the Z4C is plastic anyway, so probably not much weight saving, but looks very cool. biggrin

Where did you hear that? It's definately not plastic (if so, thats some weighty plastic they're making these things out of!).

Pretty sure the original panel is steel (didn't feel light enough to be ally). Just waiting on some scales to find out the difference in weight between the two... (carbon panel is 7lbs)..

The guys at BMW when I bought mine told me it was plastic & bonded into place, could be wrong of course, but there are two rubber seal things running down either side of it which mean that the roof section is a separate pressing ( in whatever material ) and therefore not integral to the main structure. It would make sense to make it out of plastic rather than steel for a number of reasons, like the front wings on Renaults, the Carbon roof is a great idea, and looks very trick, especially on a white car. thumbup

It is fixed to the car with four bolts (one in each corner) and a bead of sealant/glue around the edge, so they were nearly right.

Nice Z4C you have there in your profile, btw biggrin A few of us are planning a similar European tour for next year as well smile
