E39 M5 V8 Engine - how much £?

Hi All

Has anyone had to buy a 2nd hand (or new) M5 V8? Or know of someone who has?

I'm looking for one and so far my searches have been unsuccessful, plus, I wouldn't have a clue has to their actual value!

Any help really appreciated!

Apart from breakers, your best bet would be Ebay.de

I know a new 3.8 V8 for an e34 was £9k plus installation back in 1996 - mate had the receipt uch:

can't see an e39 engine being much cheaper
