... with about 40,000 miles on the clock,
'T' or 'V' reg,
Atlantis Blue or Velvet Blue paintwork,
Interior in black with contrasting champagne leather,
Manual gearbox,
All the usual extras like rear head rests, front central arm rest, park distance control, etc?

I know finding one of that spec. at all is a long shot, but if it were to exist... how much?

I think you'll struggle to find one at that miles and spec. I've just been through a hunt for a E36 Evo Cab and eventually got one below 40K miles but it was only one of a handfull across the country at that kind of miles and meant a 450 mile drive home!

Wouldn't be surprised if you have to part with a wee bit more than 10K for a late low mileage one.

Yeah, I agree it would be a struggle. I'd be happy to head as far North as £12K for the right car. There's one that's perfect in the Pistonheads Classifieds right now [ http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/217365.htm ] except it's an 'R' reg and has 90K on the clock which makes it a bit older and a lot more used than I want. That's asking £8,995, so I think £12K is a realistic upper limit for what I'm asking for if indeed it's out there at all!

Nice, got the vadar seats as well. Shame it's a bit up on the miles. With a 12K budget and your quite specific spec its probably well worth being patient at that kind of money you should pretty much be able to get the best of E36 M3's.

Personally I bought on condition/mileage and wasn't so hung up on the age. I looked at a 99V that was a complete hound despite having full bmwsh and less than 50k miles! At the other end I saw a couple of minted 96 cars!

I paid £12k for a 39k 1998 R reg Evo last year - in spanking condition - after looking at a lot before buying it I would say thats the ballpark figure for what your after

Vader seats were standard on the coupe but somewhat curiously not even an optional extra on the saloon or the convertible, though some people have managed to acquire them and fit them to 'loons and 'verts.

Indeed. I'm well on my way to having the money in place and, as I've mentioned elsewhere, I love both the E36 M3 and the Lotus Elise, so I guess it's a case of sitting tight and buying whichever comes up first that meets my spec. Don't ask how I've narrowed my car requirements down to two such different vehicles!!
