I have an E46 M3 with the 19" "diamond cut" alloys. They're a bit scuffed through kerbing, thoroughly justifying spunking away an inordinate sum on replacements. I'd like to stay with 19"s for vanity's sake, but want to get a very lightweight set, probably forged ally not magnesium as they're for 99.9% road use. I'm more interested in weight than aesthetics (diameter aside).

Does anyone know the weight front/rear of these rims?

What is a good replacement?

Have searched the web for wheels & practically everything I've read is about bling, not performance. Hope someone can help.

Lightweight over bling? Then BBS is ones for you, I bring you the 'le mans' variety:

Look great IMO, much better than the OTT 19" OEMs, and a bit more special than CSLs. However it will set you back at least 2k...

They do look the business. Do you know of any site/forum that has a table of wheel weights?

I've checked the BBS site (& others) and there are claims that the wheels are light, but no figures. I have to say though that these fit the bill, the description of how they're made does make them seem like a good choice.

I've also read about the CSL wheels, seems there are folks offering "OEM" CSL wheels & others offering replicas. I gather that to buy a set from a BMW dealer you need your chassis number (& probably more money than sense). Again, no-one gives details. Are these as light as the BBS LM, better, worse? Are there any racers out there that have some facts & figures?

These Champion rims seem a big deal, but stateside only it seems. Checking the BBS site, seems the choice is:-

CH

LM

RS-GT

RX II

As the latter has titanium bolts I'm guessing it's the lightest/most expensive. Think I'll try some ".de" websites & see what the German Euro price is, might be worth a trip over there.

I can't help thinking someone must already have done this before...is there a FAQ that a lazy @r53 like me can check out.........

Mmmmm http://www.tunerzine.com/articles.asp?id=173

@affe, im not a m3 bloke so I dont know where to point you, but BBS lms are a popular wheel choice for those with the money. Try asking on the M3 specific forums about the net, have a sniff round these boards for links, or perhaps a kind person will save you the bother.....
