Hi, Just bought an M3 and really chuffed with it. Just had the front pads changed(EBC redstuff, any comments??). During the change, the mechanic pointed out a wire that was hanging down which appeared to have been joined to the suspension (wishbone i think). Would appreciate any ideas as to what this might be and how much it would cost to repair. It would appear to be an earthing wire but not sure.
One more thing, can anybody recomend another good M3 forum(can't seem to log on to www.bm3w.co.uk)

Thanks, Dave.

Was it just the one wire? Sounds as if it could be one of the wires that serves the front ride height sensor for the xenons. Colour of wire etc?

Just had a closer look at the 'wire'. It is actually a thin rod of metal that is about 4" long with a small piece of metal at the bottom. At the top is a hinged connector, allowing it to swing backwards and forwards with another piece taking it up out of view. There is a wire attached to it further up by the looks of it. It is hanging above the wish bone closest to the front of the car! Confused because I amconfused
Cheers

Hmmmm,

Can you post a photo? I'm sure you know what you mean but I can't follow you. I have had most of the front end of mine to bits and feel like I should know what it is but can't come up with the answer at the moment.

Oh - and I would be interested to see how you get on with the red stuff pads, not heard great things about them and can recommend pagid or performance friction (for less track work) when you come to replace.

There is a lever allached to the wishbone for the xenon self levelling mechanism - hopefully it is that. Post a pic and we can confirm.

Cheers for the responses, will post a pic shortly. As for the red stuff pads, not bad but can only really compare them to the worn bmw ones that were on previously and feel about the same! Will definately go for the Pagid ones net time after reading other posts on here.
