I've had a (refundable) deposit down with a dealer for a while for the new M3. They called me earlier in the week to say they'd got a build slot, with Oct 10th delivery date. I had to rush the spec through, so I signed the order form and faxed it off, and sent a non-refundable deposit of 10%.
This morning I got a call from the dealer saying they'd made a mistake, and they'd given me their demo car. Where do I stand?

Tell them they'd better find another car via BMW GB to resolve their error. This morning I got a call from the dealer saying they'd made a mistake, and they'd given me their demo car. Where do I stand?
Make it their problem not yours.
They've come back to me with a Nov 12th delivery date, over a month later than the original delivery date.
Being pragmatic, what I want is a car delivered as close to Sept 9th launch as possible. Is it actually possible for them to deliver on their original date? Do I need to jump up and down and make some noise, or whatever I do will I not be able to get the date they'd originally said.
Are they absolutely bound by BMW to have a demo car, or can I have their allocated unit for the demo car and they don't have a demo car until the Nov 12th unit?

So 1 month later, personally I don't think it's worth worrying about unless you were promised one of the 1st bathces of cars and had a deposit down for years, but then it'd be more of a nuisance than a genuine reason to chuck your toys about and would expect say a free oil service or something and leave it at that

It's just a massive disappointment, when you're looking forward to something and then it gets delayed. The biggest PITA is that it now means my Porsche will be out of warranty when I sell it, which probably won't help with residuals.
Moan and see if they will loan you a car for the additional month you have to wait, so you can sell your car early.edb49 said:

get them to throw in the Individual hifi or something similar for free. Threaten to post on PH otherwise......er........Quick update to let everyone know what happened. I've accepted the November car, and they've put it in priority. The chap at the dealer says this means I may get it earlier, eg Oct, but I am somehow doubtful of this. They're going to pay for the first service at my local dealer (they are 80 miles away) as a goodwill gesture.
To be fair to them, they've delivered excellent service so far. I've got another M3 order with my local dealer (for the DSG one) and haven't felt "the love" nearly as much.

Oh for gods sake its only a month man , get a grip ... and as for the Porsche warranty who ever purchased it would know it only had a month left anyway Marki said:

Yes, but the point is if its still in warranty then the buyer has a certain amount of protection that the car isn't a duff one that I've covered up the faults on. If there's a warranty they just need to check the paint, interior and tyres, and forget about all the oily bits.Gassing Station | M Power | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
