Morning chaps,

Well yesterday I p/x'd my Honda Integra Jap nutter for a Bavarian Stormer in Techno Violet. I went down to Hastings from Derby to pick her up, and what a great drive back.

The car is so clean and pulls very well whatever gear. I got high 30's mpg on the motorway too, so it's easier on the fuel than the Integra.

Unfortunately in the excitement, I failed to notice that the tax had run out, the Integra having about a years worth smash but other than that I am pleased as punch. The car is exactly what I hoped it would be. Original, quick, quiet and comfy.

Out of interest, the gearlever has a bit of slack side to side in neutral and seems a long throw, would a short shift kit remedy this? Also there is a bit of dry oil on the bottom on the engine/tray, I have read that oil leaks are a nono, but the levels seems fine, and I shall be monitoring this most carefully.

I think I will sell the reg. it will more than reimburse me for the tax ideadriving

looks nice, how does it drive compaired to the integra?

I was looking at selling my M3 Evo and buying an integra.

Not sure i'd bother with selling the plate, they don't seam to make much. M3 PMS went on ebay for £86 the other day, I ment to bid on it but forgot.

Firstly I would definately recommend a test drive an Integra, the way they attack a road is a hugh rush every time. The gearbox is low ratio, with a snappy shift - the titanium gear knob is a tactile treat too. The way the power explodes beyond 5800 when the vtec cam comes in is just plain addictive. The 1800cc puts out 190bhp - awesome little engine with over 100bhp per litre. I'd say the Integra is the faster point to point car than the M3 due to its adjustability, light weight and cornering speed. They are a practical day to day car, if a little noisy on the motorway with a high rpm at 80mph. Easily the best car I have owned or driven (yes they are that good).

After 2.5 years, I was just after a change really. The M3 feels simply mighty. It's the torque that really gets me smiling. Whatever gear just push through the long throttle travel and it goes! I'm looking forward to getting used to rwd too!

oil anything to worry about?

Looks good! And I'd be interested in an 'M3' plate if you do sell. Hope you enjoy it!

Good choice of motor, do get to grips with the rear wheel drive though, use these dry summer months to get your car control together, no scrub that, use these realy wet summer months to get your drifting just right, no traction control can catch you out but the diff more than makes up for it, are you looking to mod it?

Was going to say about the dry summer months - are you in the middle east?

I'll probably look at an induction kit from 'Dave F' on a certain E36 forum, plus tempted by a short throw gear linkage, and a couple of carbon bits (as the GT) for the interior.

I'll enjoy it as it is for the time being.

Dry summer indeed laugh

Still, the damp conditions allows one to prctice one's rear wheel steer

dont want to rain on your parade but I think you'll find your OBC needs recalibrating if its showing 'high 30's' mpg on the motorway.

test it vs actual usage when you fill up and you'll see if its accurate or not.

(either that or your engine is actually a diesel!!!)

great car anyway - have fun - rwd M power wins every time!!!

Hi,

With regards to oil leaks - I had the same concern when I had the evo. I took it to a german specialist in Hexham (Autobahn), if I can remember rightly he said the oil sump was leaking slightly but the car could in reality go on for ages without any problems, however the fix was only around 100 quid so I got it done anyway. I was told on several occasions that slight oil leaks on these types of cars are common - hey I bought an Esprit after the evo so you can imagine the culture shock!

Thanks for easing my mind. I read an old EVO buying guide, and it said that if there is any oil, walk. This is one thing I didn't check when I viewed, so assumed the worst. We have a few oily cars at home - race TR4, Maserati Biturbo, so I wasn't too worried, but still, nice to know. We have a good BMW specialist near Derby, so will get them to look at it over next service.

Cheers, Alastair
