Driving the beastie late last night in full ubershnell attack mode, I experienced clutch slippage in fourth as the revs went past 4.8k the needle suddenly shot around with no corresponding change of speed.

Before I get quotes from the local main dealer and my preferred independent, what have people been paying for replacement clutches? with or without flywheel replacement?

main dealer - anywhere betweem 700 and 1000! depending on which of the thieving baskits you go to. Got mine done early last year at an indie for £700

Daz, had mine replaced by an Indy just before xams and it was £535 inc VAT, (I didn't need the flywheel changing).

The sooner you get the clutch replaced, while driving sedately should help avoid also having to replace the flywheel. Just out of interest, how many miles on the clutch?

The orignal owner had the clutch and flywheel done at 27k miles. Car now at 87k miles on that clutch (I got the car at 72k). The costs back in 2002 were Clutch kit £226, flywheel £342, labour £225 plus the VAT giving a total of £1,094.43.

I'm aware of getting the clutch changed ASAP to reduce the wear on the flywheel. Should get it done within the next week or so. thumbup

Just had the phone call from the garage. Oops. Looks like the flywheel needs doing as well.
