I am looking to derestrict my Z4M as I want to take it on the Nurberg Ring and see what it can really do, any suggestions of where I can get this done in the UK and how much it would cost?

I read that if you take it past the 155mph in 5th then the restrictor doesn't work then you shift it into 6th.
I cant confirm that, I just read it somewhere online............

here is what i read......
"The limiter is set on the 6th gear at 155 so all you need to do is go past this speed in 5th. then it should go to 178"

The 5th gear trick doesn't work I'm afraid but you will find the limiter is pretty soft and you can certainly attain an indicated speed in excess of 155.

Although you will not manage this on the ring on a public day as previously mentioned.

Many can do the de-restrict for you if you want it though....

limiter won't cut in until about 165 indicated, unless you are walter rohl I wouldn't worry too much.

Thanks for the replies so far, might have a look at doing it for a test on the autobahn. Got to around 155 in the old 3 litre Z4 but no higher, probably more to do with the performance envelope of the car than the limiter though.

Thanks again!

I have always wondered if the guvnor would kick in or not, and if so how the car would react to it. I must admit, I have only been upto about 120ish, but the pull is still incredible at that speed so there must be so much more to come! Does anyone know what the actual top speed it when de-restricted? I think I have read somewhere it was 170ish?

I guess the tyres would need upgrading if it was de-restricted? I am not sure of the speed rsting on the standard conti's.
