so whats the differences between the E36 evo engine and the E46 M3 engine?
as detailed info as posssible

The E46 M3 engine (S54), is a completely new engine compared the the E36 M3 (S50)... the block, head, camshafts, shims, vanos, manifolds, injection, throttle are all different.

In a word ...Lots. Better you explain the context in which you ask. If you have an E36M3 and are considering an engine swap it does not need to be too difficult. Again, as with the VANOS thing stick to someone who has done it before such as www.bmsport.com  (I have no affilitation with these guys just been a satisfied customer)

yes there's a fair bit and an S54 might be a better option, there are a few S54 E36's racing successfully now and as mentioned it's not hugely complicated from what I understand

was mainy wanting to know why the e46 engine revs a fair bit higher.isnt th e36 engine 3201cc and the e46 3242cc?
