If u take the current M3, and wanted to boost performance, and lose some weight (the car , not the driver!), are their established packages to achieve this? ie. if u wanted csl type performance, but with a bit more practicality/comfort.

cheers

Without removing large bits of trim, significant weight saving is unlikely.

As for the power, an ASA supercharger would do the trick nicely.

i think CA Automotive are trying to get 500BHP using a supercharger out of an E46 M3 - worth giving them a lookup!

One easy way to achieve a reasonable weight saving would be a new back box. The OEM unit is approximately 49lbs, something like a GruppeM Titanium is less than 12lbs.

Here's a link for the GruppeM:

Just in case your wondering, that's around 1500 pounds (plus delivery and duty - if you get caught!). Not cheap but quality! smile

THanks very much. Am leaning towards a CSL (got to wait at least till next spring, or my wife will kill me for changing my car. Have only kept my last 3 for less than a year each!).

My reservation was "comfort", not a big consideration, but have only driven a csl once, and that ws on a track, so didnt get a sense for day-to-day living with it.

thanks again
Nick
