18s or 19s on an E46 M3

Saving pennies at present for next purchase (hopefully in about a year) and current wish is for the above but I have heard conflicting reports with regards to wheels.

Some people say the car handles better with the 18s and some people don't!

Personally I prefer the looks of the 18s (CSL excepted) and I feel the 19s overfill the arches and look a bit too big.

Does it make a difference?
