Hi

Does anyone which of the the 2 cars, e46 m3 or 645ci (both convertibles) is more practical in terms of rear passenger space and boot space?

I hope this helps:

I have a 645 Coupe and my mate has a 3 series coupe (same vintage as an M3). In the back the 3 series has about 1.5 inches of extra leg room. I know that the 6 series conv is tighter in the back than the coupe but not sure if this applies to the 3 series too.

I can carry adults in the back of the 645 as there is reasonable space for feet under the front seats but I wouldn't want to put anyone in there for a couple of hours (unless I didn't like them!).

I have an e46 m3 cabrio and yes it is tighter than coupe for legroom in the back, especially if the driver and passenger have there seats pushed back a bit!! there is very little room then even for children. Boot space is ok dont know how it compares to the 645 but big enough for golfclubs and trolley etc, or a pushchair and bags etc.

Had both these cars in cab form, amazingly the 6 has less legroom in back!

Honestly mate, sit in the back of both and you'll see. M3 is a proper 4 seater and 6 is a GT tourer.

Sorry if i'm adding my thoughts a little late, but here we go........

I have the 645ci and brother the e46 M3 Convertible.
The M3 would shade it i'd say.....The problem with the 6 in the back is that the seats 'curl' up....more cocooned.

I've had three six-footers passengers in the 6 at the same time, including my old boss (6'4) for a short 30 min journey, so it's achievable.....

As an aside I once had four passengers in it as well! 3 girls in the back! One was so annoying, we all wished she was in the boot......which is bigger than the m3's smile

Agree with last poster.

I have e46M3 and have had the 6 series on loan for weekend test.

6 has bigger boot but seats just a shade smaller.

Preferred the more sporty set up of the M3 so wont be changing.
